20th Annual Wisconsin Head Start Association Training Conference
February 28-March 2, 2022
Call for Presenters
Wisconsin Head Start Association is hosting the 20th annual training conference titled Virtually Unstoppable. The 2022 Annual Conference will be an exciting opportunity for professional development and we are currently seeking proposals for training sessions. Whether you are a seasoned presenter, or this be your first time, we encourage you to submit your proposal to participate in this amazing conference where over 500 people attend.
This year’s Annual Conference will be held virtually. Presenters who have held virtual sessions in the past and those familiar with Zoom are especially encouraged to submit proposals. Last year was an innovative, trend-setting experience. We expect to repeat its success this year at the 20th WHSA Annual Conference!
Head Start, Early Head Start, parents, Tribal, Migrant, Even-start, child care, Birth-to-Three, home visiting, advocates, higher education, ECE students, state partners, CCR&R, health care partners, social service advocates, mentors and coaches, and all ECE professionals.
Training session/presenter guidelines:
WHSA has been able to deliver high quality professional development and networking opportunities for our members and community partners through the generosity of great professionals like you, sharing their expertise. Under most circumstances WHSA cannot not pay presenter expenses to present at the conference. However, we would like to invite you, our presenters, to attend the event free of charge!
Session format, topics and length:
Workshop sessions are 1 ½ hour in length. The committee will entertain 3 hour or proposals as long as they are set up in a 1 ½ hour “part 1” & “part 2” format. Topic themes can have a wide range of focus as identified on the proposal form. Proposals should contain learning objectives that reflect developmentally appropriate practices, Head Start values around family engagement, current research and theory, among others.
A WHSA conference platform and virtual breakout room will be provided by WHSA and Zoom. Presenters will be sent individualized presentation links no later than three business days prior to their scheduled presentation time. Both Zoom Meetings (audience can see presenters and each other) and Zoom Webinars (the audience can only see and hear presenters) are available. Formalized session polling and breakout rooms are also available. Any additional AV requests must be pre-approved by the conference steering committee no later than 1 month prior to the date of presentation. It is assumed that presenters will have an internet connection strong enough to support their session. WHSA will arrange one 15-minute Zoom prep session to review presentation needs prior to the event. Finally, WHSA will provide a room monitor in every session to assist you with any issue.
Digital copies of handouts can be hosted by WHSA on our online program if submitted to Brian at WHSAassist@whsaonline.org no later than one week prior to the conference.
WHSA prohibits all presenters from selling and/or marketing items within a training session. WHSA will offer advertising space on the conference platform for interested parties. Contact Brian at the above email to discuss exhibition and sponsorship opportunities.
