Staff Affiliate Scholarship
The WHSA Staff Scholarship is an annual scholarship funded through contributions from WHSA Affiliate members and the WHSA office. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our loyal event raffle workers and players who make these scholarships possible.
Eligibility and Application for the WHSA Staff Affiliate Scholarship
Deadline: All completed applications must be submitted by Friday, June 13, 2025.
Staff Scholarship Eligibility
Eligibility Criteria To qualify for the WHSA Staff Scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria: • Employment: Must be a current Head Start employee with at least one year of service from the date of hire. • Education: Must be enrolled in or planning to attend an accredited educational institution or job training center. Proof of enrollment is required upon award. • Previous Recipients: Applicants may not have previously received the WHSA Scholarship. Letters of Recommendation Applicants are required to submit two letters of recommendation: 1. First Letter: From your current supervisor or program Executive Director. 2. Second Letter: From a colleague of your choice, such as a professor, mentor, or fellow Head Start staff member. These letters should address the following areas: • Personal and professional achievements of the applicant • Educational and career goals • Involvement in Head Start and the community • Financial need • Any special circumstances or needs Scholarship Amount The scholarship award is $750 and can be utilized for course fees, books, childcare, and transportation. This year, two scholarships will be awarded. Selection of Award Recipients The eligibility and selection of candidates will be determined by the WHSA Scholarship Committee. Committee members with a personal or significant relationship to an applicant will recuse themselves from the review process. Selection Criteria The selection will be based on: • Personal and professional achievements • Involvement in Head Start and the community • Financial need and any extenuating circumstances • Educational and career goals How to Apply: All applications must be submitted through the online portal.
