Over the past several months, the Wisconsin Budget Project and the Wisconsin Council on Children and Families (WCCF) have diligently tracked and analyzed the 2011-13 biennial budget proposals. Among the documents they have prepared are three budget summaries (detailed below) which reflect the amended budget approved the Legislature during the week of June 13, 2011.
The Wisconsin Budget Project’s Comparative Analysis of 2011-13 Biennial Budget Bill (updated June 17) is a comprehensive summary of the 2011-13 biennial budget bill primarily focused on issues related to Wisconsin children and families. Each section (early care and education, health, human services, Wisconsin Works and other TANF-funded programs, etc.) also includes links to Legislative Fiscal Bureau (LFB) documents and to other relevant materials.
With the Effects of the Biennial Budget and Budget Repair Bills for Working Families (June 8), WCCF summarizes the ways the proposed 2011-13 budget bill and the newly enacted budget repair bill will affect working families. The brief examines cuts to the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) and Homestead Tax Credit, the budget’s likely impact on health care programs, potential cuts to childcare subsidies, diminished opportunities for education and training, and cuts to transit programs.
In The Budget’s Real-Life Impact on Wisconsin Families (June 2011), WCCF analysis shows how the 2011-13 budget would affect individual working-class families and disproportionately harm the state’s most vulnerable families. A related WCCF press release is also available.
