Description: CREATE Culturally Responsive Early Childhood Initiative is pleased to announce the upcoming spring/summer/fall workshops for early education and care professionals who serve young children and their families from Tribal communities in Wisconsin. This workshop provides an opportunity for early childhood professionals to consider the role of culture in the work they do with children and families from cultural backgrounds different from their own.

NATIVE AMERICAN CULTURAL AWARENESS WORKSHOP
All workshops will provide 6 hours of continuing education, an opportunity to learn about Native culture from an elder from the nearest tribal community, suggested resources to use in your program, and an opportunity to set your own goals. As a participant in one of these workshops, you will:
• Gain understanding and appreciation of your own cultural background.
• Reflect on how your cultural background affects how you interact with others from a different background.
• Learn about the cultures of Native American children and families you currently serve or could serve.
• Learn how to evaluate learning materials for bias.
• Learn how to develop trusting relationships with Native American families and children who may enroll your programs or class.
These workshops are intended for teachers, county early intervention providers, administrators, family child care providers, consultants and other early childhood professionals who may work with Native American children in elementary schools, group and family child care programs, Head Start, and preschools. We hope you will join us and attend the workshop nearest you.
