The Office of Head Start (OHS) has launched its six National Centers on the Early Childhood Learning and Knowledge Center (ECLKC). The Centers are integral component to the redesigned Head Start Training and Technical Assistance (T/TA) System. They are:
- The National Center on Cultural and Linguistic Responsiveness;
- The National Center on Health;
- The National Center on Parent, Family, and Community Engagement;
- The National Center on Program Management and Fiscal Operations;
- The National Center on Quality Teaching and Learning; and the
- Early Head Start National Resource Center (EHSNRC).
The National Centers will provide Head Start and Early Head Start programs with current and consistent information from OHS across all service areas by communicating “best practices” and providing programs with content-rich, usable, and practical resources and information. Additionally, they will provide training at state, regional, and national meetings and institutes; support state, Migrant/Seasonal, and American Indian/Alaska Native T/TA Center staff and consultants; communicate with local program staff through online discussion boards, conference calls, and other forms of technology; and develop and distribute lists of highly qualified consultants who are available to local programs.
