The Budgeting for National Priorities Project at the Brookings Institution, in cooperation with Spotlight on Poverty and Opportunity and the Hudson Institute, will host two back-to-back expert panel presentations for “Should the Disadvantaged be Spared from the Budget Axe? A Look at the President’s Budget Commission Findings and How They Could Impact the Poor” on Thursday, December 16. The event, held in Washington D.C., will be webcast live from 9:00 to 11:30 a.m. eastern time (8:00 to 10:30 central).
The panels (please see the link for information about the individual panelists) will address how “the poor, near-poor, and their children who rely on government benefits to get ahead have more to lose than most if the federal budget implodes” and “examine the recommendations of the President’s National Commission on Fiscal Responsibility and Reform from the perspective of the disadvantaged.”
