The National Professional Development Center on Autism Spectrum Disorders (NPDC on ASD) has released the new online learning module Early Identification of ASD.
The modules addresses the importance of early identification (including the benefits and challenges to families, communities, and society), describes the early characteristics of ASD as documented in DSM-IV, and provides the recommended set of practices that lead to early identification (which includes surveillance, screening, and diagnostic assessments as well as other tools). The Early Identification of ASD module comes with videos (including home movies of babies who later develop ASD), case studies, and other resources.
