Building and Using Coordinated State Early Care and Education Data Systems: A Framework for States, a recent policy brief from the Early Childhood Data Collaborative now available at the Data Quality Campaign website:
- Describes why states should build longitudinal data systems for early care and education;
- Articulates the principles for developing state early childhood data systems which allow for continuous improvement and address critical state policy questions;
- Outlines the ten fundamentals of coordinated state longitudinal data systems by offering examples from specific states; and
- Provides guidance to policymakers on how to ensure appropriate access to data including building the capacity for stakeholders to use the data for continuous improvement.
The Early Childhood Data Collaborative is consortium of seven national organizations convened to help state policymakers build, link, and use early childhood data systems.
