The 15th Annual WHSA Training Conference will be held at the Kalahari Waterpark Resort & Convention Center in Wisconsin Dells on February 6-8, 2017. The theme this year is “All Aboard…Together We Can Make a Difference!” Join with other Head Start, Early Head Start, Tribal Head Start and other ECE professionals engaging in amazing workshops, speakers and networking opportunities.

Keynotes:

Monday Keynote Address:

“Understanding My Value and Playing My Role- We All Matter and Make a Difference” presented by Jon Walker, a motivational trainer and consultant who believes that in order to build a better product, we must invest in building better people.  Jon has presented at Head Start conferences throughout the nation and assisted in the successful acquisition of over $77 million in Head Start/Early Head Start Funding.  Jon believes that in order to successfully navigate the DRS process organizations must embrace delivering high quality, comprehensive services. Mr. Walker will also present a workshop in the morning on “Does Data tell your story?”.

Jon Walker is a Motivational Trainer, Consultant and successful Grant Writer. In 1989, Jon developed J Walker Enterprises, a premiere training and development firm, where his philosophy is “in order to build a better product, invest in building better people.” Jon has spent over 20 years training and developing individuals as well as grant writing for individuals, programs and organizations in both the non-profit and for-profit sectors. Jon has trained professionals in Head Start and Early Head Start programs, Community Action Agencies, Head Start Associations, county governments, social service agencies as well as many small and large businesses.


Tuesday Keynote Address:

Rock, Rhymes and Readpresented by Dr. Jean Feldman, a beloved presenter across the nation with over 45 years of experience in education as a classroom teacher, author and consultant. Dr. Jean has written over 20 books for early educators and produced many CDs and DVDs for young children.  Dr. Feldman inspires teachers around the globe with her engaging songs and creative activities that help make teaching and learning FUN! Dr. Jean will also be presenting a concert on Monday afternoon, along with a” Game on-Make, take and Sing” workshop on Tuesday morning.

Jean Feldman has over 45 years experience in education as a classroom
teacher, author, and consultant. Dr. Feldman has an M.A. in Early Childhood
and a PhD in Curriculum and Instruction. She is a member of the National
Association for the Education of Young Children and is Early Childhood Professor in Residence at the College of Charleston. She has written over 20 books for early educators and has produced many CDs and DVDs for young children. Dr. Feldman inspires teachers around the globe with her engaging songs and creative activities that help make teaching and learning FUN!

Workshops on topics including but not limited to science, math, Play, fatherhood, dual language, Inclusion, parents as partners, mentoring, data, and a Vision Screeners training by Prevent Blindness.  A Concert on Monday afternoon by Dr. Jean hosted by Kaplan will get adults and children singing and dancing. The Monday luncheon will feature Head Start Service Awards recognizing all staff working in Head Start for 5,10, 15, 20 and 25 years and more.


New and Exciting Features of This Years Conference:

Children’s Vision Screening Training

Learn the proper way to screen children’s eyes for vision problems. This training results in a 3 year national certification through Prevent Blindness. Participants will learn about common eye problems, proper screening techniques and technologies, and how to follow-up properly.
