The James R. Ryan Memorial Award is a recognition given biennially by the Wisconsin Alliance for Infant Mental Health (WI-AIMH) to an individual or group that has made a significant contribution to the social-emotional development of infants and/or young children and their families within a Wisconsin community, thus demonstrating a commitment to the mission and vision of WI-AIMH:
Vision: We aim for all Wisconsin infants and young children to reach their fullest potential through nurturing and consistent relationships within the context of family, community, and culture.
Mission: WI-AIMH strives to promote infant mental health through building awareness, professional capacity, partnerships and policies supporting infants, young children and their families.
Jim Ryan, co-founder and Godfather of WI-AIMH, was tireless in his efforts to improve the lives of individuals and groups in his local community and state. His passion to make life better for all children was evident in his lifetime efforts to collaborate with others in the political, service, and advocacy arenas. He was notable in his commitment, dedication, and service to improve the lives and social and emotional development of all children and especially those with special needs. The James R. Ryan Memorial Award honors his contribution to the establishment of WI-AIMH.
This award will be given at the Wisconsin Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health Conference on June 12, 2012 at the luncheon award ceremony. We are accepting nominations for this award until May 4th. Letters of nomination for the award must include the following:
* Nominee’s name, position/title, employer and contact information
(address, phone, e-mail).
* Identification of the accomplishments on which the nomination is
based
* Memorial Award is based on (maximum of two double-spaced pages).
