Two-day Coach Training

November 28-29, 2017

The Practice-Based Coaching Training Institute (PBCTI) is an intensive 2-day event intended for coaches implementing the Practice Based Coaching model. During the PBCTI, coaches will learn how to use Practice-Based Coaching to support staff’s use of high-quality teaching and home-visiting practices.

Objectives for the Practice-Based Coaching Training Institute are as follows:

Coaches will be able to:

  • Identify the key components of PBC
  • Describe the characteristics of collaborative partnerships
  • Work with staff to create shared goals and develop action plans for achieving those goals
  • Conduct focused observations based on action plan
  • Use reflection and feedback to support staff’s implementation to the identified goals
  • Meet the Head Start Program Performance Standard for implementing a research-based, coordinated coaching strategy by a trained coach

The training content has been expanded to include coaching in center-based, home-based and family child care program options.  Discussion will include coaching to fidelity with a emphasis on using research-based teaching practices.


Ann Steffen

Ann Steffen

Ann Steffen has held a variety of positions in the field of Early Childhood Education for over 25 years. These include experiences from classroom work with toddlers, to early childhood administration, home visiting as a Birth to Three Service Coordinator and coordination of education services in Head Start. Ann holds a masters degree in Early Childhood: Exceptional Education Needs and is currently employed with STG International as an Early Childhood Education Specialist providing Training and Technical Assistance to Head Start Grantees in Wisconsin.

Monica Meinholz has been an Early Childhood Specialist with STG international since November 2016. She spent the 10 years prior to that in different capacities throughout the early childhood field, but most recently spent time working for a grantee in central WI. Her undergraduate degree is from UW-Madison in Human Development & Family Studies, and her graduate degree is from UW-Stevens Point in Human & Community Resources.

Who Should Attend?

The PBCTI is designed for staff who provide direct coaching. These coaches may be supporting classroom teachers, home visitors, family child care providers, or others who work directly with children or families. Previously attendance in Practice-Based Coaching: Learning Academy is strongly encouraged. Limit: 3 Participants per program.
