Head Start Teacher Assistant – UW Oshkosh – Shawano, Seymour, Kaukauna, Appleton, Menasha, Neenah, Oshkosh

Status: Full-time, Academic Year (Mid-August – May)
Start Date: August 7, 2017 (tentatively)
Wage Rate: $15,892 - $18,857
Qualifications:

Associate degree or Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or degree in related field with experience working with preschool children.  Extensive knowledge of child development, appropriate observation/assessment methods in early child development and demonstrated knowledge of implementing early childhood curriculum.  Valid Wisconsin Driver’s License. Successful completion of criminal background checks.  Minimum requirement:  Pre-School Child Development Associate (CDA).


Responsibilities:

Implements high quality early childhood programming for children and their families as detailed in the Head Start program performance standards and in collaboration with the classroom teacher.  Set up pre-school environment; implement developmentally appropriate daily lesson plans.  Provide individual and group activities to stimulate approaches to learning and growth in physical development, language, literacy, and communication, mathematics, creative arts, science and technology and social studies.  Implement positive guidance strategies and support child's social/emotional/behavioral growth.  Ensure healthy and safe practices for young children. Contribute to ongoing assessments of each child using the online assessment tool.  Engage families in the program to support child’s development and parent’s role as child’s first and most important educator. Assist in planning and implementing parent meetings, special programs and training events.  Follow all guidelines and procedures outlined by Licensing Rules for Group Day Care Centers.

We offer a competitive salary and great benefits (including health, life, dental, sick pay, and paid holidays, etc.) package.  We are off for one week during holidays and one week of Spring Break (usually same week as your sites' school district spring break).
